Designboom featured new images of NEMA Chicago while highlighting the building’s historically inspired and sustainable design. Rafael Viñoly’s vision for the 76-story tower recalls the Windy City’s iconic Willis Tower, complete with the bundled tube layout that produces multiple rooftops, while David Rockwell’s interiors make use of the city’s grid pattern layout. The designers used recycled materials and included energy-saving appliances to conform with the strict LEED guidelines, making this collection of Downtown Chicago rentals “an environmentally conscious member of its community.” The building’s location, on the southern edge of Grant Park, will provide residents with unbeatable views of the city and Lake Michigan when NEMA Chicago is complete.
